Make possible to unstake part of position

Now the full staked amount has to be withdrawn, to be able to unstake.
Most investors and traders want the possibility to take out some gains from time to time, secure profits etc.
Let’s make it possible to unstake a part of the amount, so we don’t have to spend more Gas-fees than necessary (now we have to unstake, and restake what we want to keep, at least doubling the gas-fees, plus we’ll be charged a fee each time. I would gladly pay a fee for withdrawing 10% of my portfolio, but not 2% on my full stack; that would be 20% of what I want to take out!

Any news on this?

It's super difficult to implement this, currently the staking contract assumes an all-or-nothing stake. We are looking at upgrading the contracts in future and this will certainly be top of the list

Matthew Finlayson: Very glad to hear that all sides consider this very important! :-)

Matthew Finlayson: Hey Matt, hope you are doing great! Does the implementation of Matic open up the chance to allocate some contract-dev-time (is this a word lol) to review this proposal?

imo this is a basic, vital functionality that is very needed

I completely agree with this and consider it utmost urgent.
While I understand and support the strategic concept of locked up AuM and early withdrawal penalties the fact that you can only unstake your full amount instead of unstaking a part of a position almost looks like a oversight that should be corrected.
It makes rebalacing unnecessarily expensive for anyone who wants to follow best practice and balance out a portfolio of multiple IC funds after the market for example showed very high crypto appreciation.
IML is marketed as a safe haven for crypto gains and the way how staking works right now (alongside the topic of certain crypto funds not sharing a common currency with IML for easier rebalacing) is really preventing investors from taking full advantage of this otherwise great concept.
Early withdrawal penalties are fine the way they are, obviously when only a part of a position is withdrawn the fees should only apply for that amount.
